DTR ASSOCIATES, INC.
This project was constructed out of many re-purposed materials to pay tribute
to the philosophies of a true cottage garden. Re-purposed sandstone and
reclaimed brick walkways and patios in combination with plantings give a
cottage feel. In the backyard, the sunken firepit area was made from
re-claimed sandstone that was given to the client. This close up of the fire pit
shows a retaining wall made from stone collected on-site. The master suite deck
is made from re-claimed barn wood and the railing was hand crafted from
locust branches collected from the wooded area on the property.
YARD SOLUTIONS, INC.
Yard Solutions was tasked with updating an old concrete paver patio and
pond. They utilized all natural products that included a patterned bluestone
patio, masonry stone grill station & walls, and a cedar pergola. A bluestone
dining patio was positioned next to the detached garage with an existing
Serviceberry tree to provide shade. Planters along the garage help to balance
and soften the hardscapes. The cedar pergola was stained to blend in with the
house & the stone used. It provides a feel of intimacy. At dusk, the LED Lighting
provides a warm glow and extends the hours to make this a functional space.
KGK GARDENING & DESIGN CORP.
KGK was asked to overhaul a plain front entryway to compliment the grand
style of the homes interior. Guests now follow a serpentine walkway where they
can pause and relax on seating walls on their way to the enclosed courtyard.
You pass through a gate and under an arched arbor into a courtyard which is
framed by a seating wall. To add depth to the property, an island planting bed
and accent wall was installed in the front corner of the property. A multi-tiered
fountain, forever timeless and classic, was positioned in front of the home office
windows so the gentle sound of water can be heard while you work.
